City Sewer Back up Has a Silver Lining for Area Residents
On June 21, a sewer backup caused a "Category 3" water loss in a non-profit apartment complex on Madison's East Side. FGS sent out a technician almost immediately to begin removing the three inches of contaminated water that had flooded the main level.

Category 3 water damage, otherwise known as "black water", contains harmful bacteria and other biohazards. Due to this type of contamination, it deems the property inhabitable until proper steps are taken to remove the affected building material. At this time, the damages are nearing the $300,000 mark but the total number won't be known for some time.

Fortunately, there is a silver lining to this disaster. The nature of the damage requires a complete re-build of the first-floor units, hallways, offices, storage units and elevator. This allows for welcomed upgrades such as new carpet, paint, vinyl, doors, cabinets and countertops. FGS has been working day and night to get the work done so the temporarily displaced residents can move back in as soon as possible.

We'd like to send a special shout-out to Tim Schwersinke of Badger Flooring for getting quotes to us so quickly and going above and beyond by having everything prepped and ready to go on a timely basis!
